Dr. Urlaub graduated from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1977 with a B.S. degree in Biology. He went on to graduate dental school from the SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1981. In 1982 he completed a general practice dental residency (GDR) at Goldwater Memorial Hospital in NYC. He practiced on Long Island for one year before starting a practice in Baltimore, MD in 1983.

Dr. Urlaub and his wife, Ange, moved to Raleigh in 2000 in order to assist in the care of an ailing parent. The current office opened in June of 2002 as a new startup practice. He feels grateful to have experienced tremendous growth and success since that time.

Dr. Urlaub keeps up to date by taking varied continuing educational classes, including participation in hands-on training with the Hornbrook Institute for comprehensive, full-mouth makeovers. He is one of only a very few dentists in the metropolitan Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill area to have the new Solea Dental Laser®, a CO2 laser that can accomplish dental fillings without numbing shots or using the traditional dental drill! He incorporates digital technology throughout the office, including the ability for patients to receive crowns and veneers in a single office visit using CEREC® CAD/CAM technology. 3D digital CT x-ray scans allow dental implants to be placed successfully using a surgical guided technique. He has also completed certification Invisalign Clear Braces®, and other clear aligner technologies. Most adults with crooked or spaced teeth can benefit from these orthodontic procedures. Dr Urlaub's passion for learning ensures his patients receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care.

Dr. Urlaub and Ange will soon be celebrating 33 years together. They have three adult sons, Josh, Zach, and Noah. Noah has completed Master Dental Ceramist Program at the University of Alabama School Of Dentistry in Birmingham AL and is now the lead dental ceramic technician in a dental lab in Asheboro NC.

He is an avid tennis player, loves to spend time in the snow country as well as the beach and enjoys most sports. He and Ange feel lucky to live in the Raleigh area.
